Introducing Leaderboards and Weekly Leagues on Ilmino

Revision works best when it becomes a habit, and habits are easier to keep when progress is visible and a little bit competitive. Today we are introducing Leaderboards and weekly Leagues on Ilmino. Every question you practise now earns XP, and each week that XP places you on a leaderboard alongside other students. Finish near the top and you are promoted to a higher league. Reach a new league and there is a reward chest waiting. It is a simple, motivating layer on top of the practice, marking and feedback you already use, designed to keep you coming back and building momentum.

How it works

The idea is straightforward: practise, earn XP, climb.

  • Every practice session, test and full exam you complete earns XP.
  • Each week, your XP is counted on the leaderboard for your current league.
  • At the end of the week, the top places are promoted, the lowest places in the demotion zone drop down a league, and everyone starts the next week fresh.

Because the leaderboard resets weekly, a quiet week never leaves you stuck at the bottom, and a strong week is always rewarded. It is built to encourage steady, little-and-often revision rather than last-minute cramming.

Leagues, from Bronze to Master

Everyone starts in the Bronze league and works upward. There are five leagues in total:

LeagueWhere it sits
BronzeStarting league
SilverSecond league
GoldThird league
DiamondFourth league
MasterTop league

Your League Progress track shows how far you have climbed, which league you are in now, and the reward chest you can claim for each stage you complete. The higher the league, the tougher the competition, so reaching Master means you have kept a consistent practice habit over several weeks.

Promotion, demotion and the podium

Each weekly league shows a clear picture of where you stand:

  • The top three students appear on a podium, each with their weekly XP.
  • A full ranked table lists everyone in the league by weekly XP, with total XP shown alongside so you can see long-term progress too.
  • The students at the very top carry a Promote marker and move up a league next week.
  • The lowest places sit in the demotion zone and move down a league, which keeps every league competitive and fairly matched.

Compare by tier or by room

You can view the leaderboard two ways using the Tier / Room switch:

  • Tier compares you against all students at your league level.
  • Room compares you within your own group, so classmates or a study group can see how they rank against each other.

This makes leagues work both as a broad challenge across Ilmino and as a friendly, close-knit competition among people you know.

Part of the wider progress picture

Leaderboards sit alongside the rest of Ilmino's progress features. At the top of the page you will see your XP, gems, hearts, your current streak and your league, so your daily effort and your weekly ranking stay in one view. Streaks reward you for turning up each day, gems recognise your activity, and the leaderboard turns all of that into a weekly goal to aim for.

Why we built it

Leaderboards are not about pressure, they are about momentum. Ilmino already marks your working against mark schemes, explains where marks were lost and recommends what to practise next. Leagues add a reason to keep that loop going week after week. Consistent, spaced practice is one of the most reliable ways to improve, and a weekly goal makes it far easier to stick with.
