Today we're opening up something we've wanted to share for a long time: the Ilmino question bank, with a paper builder attached. Over 88,000 exam-style questions across GCSE subjects, free to browse, free to assemble into your own paper, and free to download. You don't even need an account.
From bank to paper in about a minute
Head to the question bank, filter by subject, module, topic, subtopic, question type or difficulty, and start adding questions. As you add them, a real exam paper builds itself beside the list: numbered questions in proper exam format, tick boxes for multiple choice, matching columns, word banks for fill-in-the-blank, ruled answer space scaled to the marks.
The preview paginates exactly like the download will, A4 sheet by A4 sheet, page numbers and all. What you see on screen is what comes out of the printer.
Question paper and mark scheme, separately
When you're happy, hit Download and choose what you need: the question paper, the mark scheme, or both. The mark scheme mirrors the paper question for question, with correct options ticked, matching pairs joined, blanks filled and model answers written out.
Teachers, this one is for you. Homework sheets, starters, end-of-topic tests, intervention packs: build them in minutes instead of evenings.
Free means free
The question bank is free for personal and educational use. Print it, photocopy it, hand it out, share it with your department. The only thing we ask is that it isn't sold or used commercially; every paper carries a small notice saying exactly that.
And if you want questions made to order
Alongside the bank there's a second tab: Generate in real time, which writes fresh questions to your exact specification, topic, difficulty, style and all. That one is part of Ilmino Premium. The bank itself stays free for everyone, always.
Build your first paper now. No sign-up, no card, no catch.
