Some students finish a past paper and think "that was fine, actually". If that's you, congratulations, and also: we've built something for you. Competitive tests bring Olympiad-level questions to Ilmino, the kind that make you put your pen down and stare at the ceiling for a bit.
What makes a question Olympiad-level?
Exam questions test whether you've learnt the syllabus. Olympiad questions test whether you can think with it. They combine familiar ideas in unfamiliar ways, hide the method, and reward creativity over memorisation. You won't find the answer by remembering a worked example, because there isn't one.
Dead simple to start
Press Take Test, choose Competitive, pick your subject, and start. No topic menus, no configuration. The whole point is that you don't know what's coming, just like a real competition paper.
Why bother going beyond the syllabus?
Because it makes the syllabus easier. Once you've wrestled with problems that genuinely stretch you, standard exam questions start to feel like warm-ups. Stretch work builds the confidence and problem-solving muscle that turns grade 8 students into grade 9 students, and it's excellent preparation for UKMT, BPhO and other UK competitions.
Find your ceiling
Fair warning: your first Competitive test will humble you. That's normal, and it's also the fun part. Your ceiling is higher than you think, but the questions are harder than you think too. Go find out which wins, or explore exam practice first.
